Butler County is partnering with an organization that will aim to expand broadband coverage.
There is $1.16 billion in funding available for broadband expansion in Pennsylvania. In an effort to secure some of that funding, the county has agreed to a contract with AECOM, which has worked on similar projects before.
The application will also look for internet providers that would help with the project.
Currently, the county is targeting both the northeastern and southeastern portions of Butler County.
Awards will be announced in early 2025.
