Around 100 local residents braved less than ideal conditions to attend a poll worker appreciation dinner Thursday night.
The event hosted by the Butler County Bureau of Elections at the Highfield Community Center included remarks by Director of Elections Chantell McCurdy and Poll Worker/Precinct Coordinator Adam Price as well as Commissioners Leslie Osche, Kim Geyer, and Kevin Boozel.
Awards for longevity were presented to elected and unelected volunteers who have been operating local polling places for 10, 20, 30, 40 and even four women who have been election judges or inspectors for 50 years.
This event was also attended by State Representative Marci Mustello and State Senator Scott Hutchinson.
