The new board of Butler County commissioners held their first official public meeting Wednesday of their administration.
Commissioners Leslie Osche, Kim Geyer and Kevin Boozel revealed they will not be able to reopen the 2016 budget for the purpose of reducing the 3-mill tax hike that was passed by the previous board.
They did, however, identify several areas of the county’s budget where they believe savings are available going forward.
Commissioner Boozel estimated about $300,000 has already been saved in the first 12 days of this administration due to changing procedures in the commissioners’ office to make them more efficient.
