Butler City Council has approved a contract with the local firefighters’ union.
The two-year agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 114, will run retroactively from Jan. 1 of this year through the end of 2019.
The firefighters have already voted to approve this contract. Changes from the previous contract include small pay raises (a quarter of a percent this year and half a percent next year) and an increase in firefighters’ contributions toward their pension plan from 3 percent of their monthly wages to 5 percent.
The union represents the 16 full-time firefighters working for the city of Butler.
