An investigation is ongoing into a fatal accident yesterday in Jackson Township.
The three vehicle crash happened around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 19 and Route 528.
Police say 44-year-old Chad Kozay of Coraopolis was driving a pickup from Route 528 when he went through a red light and collided into two vehicles driving north on Route 19.
Kozay’s vehicle then left the scene speeding southbound on Route 19 weaving in-and-out of traffic.
Police say his vehicle then crossed into the northbound lane and went into the parking lot of GM Equipment Center. Kozay’s truck finally stopped after hitting a parked storage trailer with police saying his truck was speeding throughout the entire accident.
Kozay was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry where he was pronounced dead. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The two other drivers involved suffered minor injuries, with one person taken to the hospital.
