Work in a couple of departments in the Butler County Government Center will soon get underway.
County Commissioners approved contracts for a $1.5 million renovation of the Register of Wills and Domestic Relations offices.
However, the bids for the project came in about $500,000 over the initial estimate. Commissioners say they will pull the additional money from the county’s general fund.
For people who need to visit the Domestic Relations office, it is now on the first floor of the original courthouse in the former prothonotary’s office.
The project is expected to start in September and will continue for another 20 to 25 weeks.
