Construction vehicles have officially moved in to Butler as crews begin excavation work on a new downtown parking garage and neighboring hotel.
Thomas Construction of Grove City will handle the clearing work for both projects and is the general contractor for the garage. The developer of the hotel is J.S. Capitol.
Foundation work on both structures should start by winter.
The two projects are part of the city’s Centre City development and sit at the corner of East Jefferson and South McKean streets. The garage will have 230-spaces. The hotel will be a Marriot Springhill Suites.
