The Connoquenessing Creek is nominated to be Pennsylvania’s River of the Year.
The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau says the waterway was one of just five nominees selected out of hundreds of submissions.
The local creek was rated the second most polluted waterway in America back in 2000 but has since been cleaned up. The tourism bureau credits the Allegheny Aquatic Alliance and other organizations’ efforts with making significant changes to the creek and its restoration.
