U.S. Representative Mike Kelly is still standing with President Donald Trump as he and his colleagues attempt to tackle another important issue.
“I support him because I think his agenda makes more sense to me than where we’ve been for a long time. Perfect? Absolutely not. Could he message things differently that would maybe be softer for some people? He probably could but that’s not who he is,” Rep. Kelly said Monday.
Kelly was in town earlier this week for the ribbon-cutting at the new VA Healthcare Center in Butler. He also took time to sit down with WISR’s Dave Malarkey for a diverse conversation on the live afternoon talk show “It’s Your Turn.”
Following the failure of an alternative health plan in the Senate, Kelly has high hopes for an overhaul of a tax system considered by many to be overly complicated.
“What we want to look at is something that’s much easier to understand; a flatter tax code that maybe just has three different percentages of what we tax people at but something that Americans can look at and say you know, I understand this. It’s not complicated for me,” he said.
Kelly is a Butler native and represents the 3rd congressional district in Washington, D.C.
