The state of Pennsylvania has set a date for the compressed natural gas fueling station to be installed at the Butler Transit Authority building.
Trillium CNG will build, operate and maintain the station to be open in 2019. The Butler station will be a part of a public/private partnership as the company will be responsible for 29 such stations across the state to be built over the next five years.
Butler Transit Authority Executive Director John Paul told our newsroom the actual date for the completion of the Butler facility could be sooner as the authority will be getting CNG buses before then.
Similar to the public/private partnership the state entered into replace bridges, this deal allows work to be done faster and more cost effectively. New Castle and Beaver County transportation authorities are expected to get their new stations next year with both having systems that would allow fueling for the public as well.
