A well-known local nurse and long-time community philanthropist has died.
Janice Phillips Larrick passed away on Sunday at home.
After graduation from Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1946, Larrick served as nursing co-supervisor at the hospital as well as a school nurse for Butler City Schools.
Larrick spent much of her life supporting local charitable interests such as the Jr Women’s Club of Butler, the Butler Public Library, the Butler Symphony Orchestra, the Musical Theater Guild, and many local churches.
In 2017 Larrick pledged $1 million to the Butler County Community College Education Foundation in support of the school’s registered nursing program. BC3’s Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building is now under construction.
Janice Phillips Larrick was 96 years old.
