Several months after changing the name of its facility to honor its founder, a local health care organization is giving her another honor.
The Board of Directors of the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center of Butler County has bestowed the title of Board Member Emerita upon Purvis, which carries perpetual honorary board membership.
“No one is more deserving of this title than Jean,” said David Konesni, board president of the center. “She has dedicated more than a decade of her life to making our center a reality and growing it to enhance and increase its effectiveness for the growing number of people we serve.”
Purvis was the driving force behind getting the Community Health Center off the ground in 2008 to provide medical, dental, behavioral care, and wellness education to the uninsured residents of Butler County and the surrounding areas.
“In many communities, people like those we care for have nowhere to turn,” executive director Kimberly Reamer said. “But we have a care center that helps people achieve health and wellness thanks to Jean Purvis.”
The center was renamed in honor of Purvis last September and is located on Bonnie Drive in East Butler.
