A statewide court has set a deadline for when lawmakers need to finish redrawing the Congressional map for this year’s election.
The Commonwealth Court ruled that the all parties involved—including lawmakers, activists, and Governor Tom Wolf—must submit a proposed map by 5 p.m. this upcoming Monday.
The court then set January 30th as the deadline to render its judgment.
However, any ruling by the Commonwealth Court is expected to be appealed to the state Supreme Court, which could delay the timeline of the election. Right now, candidates can start to circulate petitions on February 15th.
