The sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority to Pennsylvania American Water is another step closer to the finish line.
The Commonwealth Court denied an appeal by the Summit and Center Townships that sought to stop the sale of the sewer system. The court found denied the appeal based on procedure, not merit.
Officials say with the denial, it’s expected that the sale will move forward in the near future.
Butler City and Butler Township both agreed to the $230 million sale last year, with the PUC approving the deal in November. The two municipalities will split the money from the sale.
The exact date of closing is not known at this moment.
