The Butler County commissioners have set a policy on where natural gas drilling impact fee money goes.
“We want to establish a uniform guideline as to how these funds are distributed moving forward,” Chairman of the board Leslie Osche said.
The disbursement is prioritized.
-40 percent of the allocation, or no less than $750,000, will be dedicated to county emergency services
-If funds remain after that, 15 percent of the allocation, or no less than $250,000, will fund technological or other capital improvements
-The third priority is the Butler County Infrastructure Bank, which allots grants and loans for municipal project. 35 percent of the allocation, but in no case less than $200,000, would go here
If any funds remain after those three priorities are met, the commissioners would distribute the remaining money at their discretion.
Natural gas drilling money is allocated to Butler County through the state’s Act 13.
