Even though the new board of Butler County commissioners won’t be reopening the 2016 budget and cutting the property tax hike, they aim to cut $5 million in expenses this year.
Administrative meetings were held Monday with the county’s row officers and department heads where officials were told to look deeply into their areas to see where savings can be made.
Newly-elected commissioners Leslie Osche, Kim Geyer and Kevin Boozel maintain they are focused on a review and overhaul of processes at all levels. Boozel told our newsroom Tuesday the focus is on cutting costs and finding efficiencies.
“The number to hit is still $5 million in savings,” Boozel said. “That’s where we’re heading.”
The board will hold an agenda-setting meeting Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Butler County Government Center. It is open to the public.
