The reality of an absent state budget is continuing to cause great concerns in counties all across the commonwealth, including Butler.
The Butler County commissioners unanimously voted Wednesday to authorize a temporary additional withdrawal of up to $220,000 from the county’s operating reserve to counterbalance not having any state money come in. This is on top of a vote in November that authorized the withdrawal of up to $1 million from the county’s reserve.
Chairman of the Board Bill McCarrier said the county has already used roughly $1.7 million of its own money so far during the budget impasse, with most of those funds going to support the county’s human services providers.
McCarrier said Wednesday the state owes the county human services department about $10 million.
