The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Washington Nationals 6-1 last night. Gerrit Cole pitched seven strong innings for the Bucs, allowing one run on three hits. Andrew McCutchen had two hits and Josh Bell hit his eighth home run of the season.
The two teams wrap-up their three-game series this afternoon at 12:35pm.
The Pirates have placed outfielder Gregory Polanco on the 10-day disabled list for a hamstring problem. Danny Ortiz was called up from Indianapolis to take his spot on the roster.
