There is still time to sign up to help with an organized clean-up effort of flooded areas in Butler scheduled for this upcoming weekend.
The Western PA VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) and the United Way of Butler County are teaming up to hold a Clean-Up Blitz on Saturday, Aug. 12 starting at 8 a.m.
Trained volunteers have been working to assess damage from the flooding that occurred on July 5-6 in parts of the City of Butler and Butler Township but more help is needed. Those interested in participating will do yard work, power washing, sanitizing, removing debris and mucking out of roughly 20 homes.
Groups and individuals able to volunteer are asked to call 211 by Tuesday (8/8) so that tasks and locations can be assigned based on need and availability. The Salvation Army will serve food to volunteers and residents. There is no further need for donations of clothing or personal items at this time.
