Plans for the first City of Butler Labor Day Italian Festival have been finalized.
Representatives from County Festivals attended Thursday night’s Butler City Council meeting in order to discuss the terms of the final agreement.
The main topic of conversation focused on how many police would be needed to ensure safety for the festival. Since the number of vendors participating in the four-day event is unknown at this time, the city will provide the minimum number that the police chief feels is necessary. Festival organizers will pay 25 percent of police overtime costs with the city contributing 75 percent.
The city is also applying for grants with the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau to help cover costs.
