The city of Butler is moving ahead with a plan to dissolve the parking authority.
An ordinance will be proposed at Thursday’s regular meeting of Butler City Council to eliminate the authority and hire current authority Chairman Jimmy Chiprean to a newly created post of Parking Manager.
The job description for Parking Manager has not yet been created but the post would be a city employee with a salary, paid by the city, to administer the day-to-day operations of the city’s parking lots.
Folding the expenses and revenues of the parking authority into the city budget will likely revise the financial projections. An additional special meeting may be scheduled for the purpose of adopting a revised budget if necessary.
