A member of Butler City Council is attempting to find some help to repair and maintain a popular attraction for young people.
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Councilman Jeff Smith said the skate park at Father Marinaro Park is in need of serious work.
“It’s been there for like 15 years and it has not been maintained,” he said during a meeting Tuesday. “What I want to do is talk to some of the bigger businesses in town. I would like to find somebody who will adopt that park and be responsible for it.”
Mayor Ben Smith pointed out that good skate parks can bring in guests from outside of the area so it is important for the city to have this spot functioning as it should be.
Anyone interested in supporting this effort should contact Councilman Jeff Smith.
