The city is still cleaning up from last month’s flooding.
The city has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to do work on the Sullivan Run Local Flood Protection Project, pending review by the city solicitor. This rehabilitation would include removal of sediment bars and scour repair on bridge abutments.
The estimated cost of the project is $20,000 and as public sponsor, the city would be responsible for 20 percent of that cost. The Corps is expected to begin work in the spring of 2018 but city workers will start their part immediately.
Also at Thursday night’s meeting, Butler City Council accepted a bid from Gargiulo Landscaping to make nearly $8,000 worth of repairs to the West Penn Street bridge. Cement was knocked off the structure during the floods on July 5-6.
