Members of the Butler Shade Tree Commission continue to express frustration with a situation involving their liaison to Butler City Council.
Councilman Jeff Smith has been serving as the liaison to the group and Butler City Mayor Ben Smith said Tuesday night that no decisions have been made with regard to changing that assignment.
A Shade Tree member reported that two members had quit their appointments as a result of this ongoing conflict, leaving the group with four current members. A dispute about who is responsible for memorial benches along Main Street has yet to be resolved.
Mayor Smith did say he recommended whoever the liaison was, that person should only be speaking during a time of public comment and not throughout the meetings as may have happened in the past.
