The City of Butler is saving a large amount of money by purchasing a truck from Butler Township instead of buying a new one.
City officials made the decision to buy the 2001 GMC C8500 Dump Truck with plow and tailgate spreader for $6,000.
The truck will be used by the Streets Department to legally pull trailers and other equipment. The city purchased a mini-paver from Butler Township last year and it has been working great.
The city originally budgeted $114,000 for a new truck and ordered one through a purchasing agency but decided to cancel for financial reasons. The city is also modifying their original plan to purchase two new police cars.
