The Mayor of the City of Butler is once again asking local non-profit organizations to contribute to the city’s finances.
Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson mailed letters to 43 non-profit agencies and organizations located within Butler City last week, requesting that they donate to the 2016 city budget.
The letter says that 30 percent of the property in the city is tax exempt and that property has an assessed value of about $30 million.
The city’s budget is currently $8 million; $2 million comes from property tax revenue.
A similar request to the same groups last year resulted in eight organizations donating a total of $7,300.
