The rescue of Kelly Automotive Park in Butler from a mountain of debt is nearly complete.
At the Stadium Authority’s meeting Monday night, Solicitor Leo Stepanian informed board members that once the deed has been recorded at the Butler County Courthouse on Tuesday, the authority will own the facility.
Many obstacles had to be overcome in order to finalize the agreement, including various inspections and the purchase of flood insurance, which the authority hopes to receive a rebate for after an exception was granted in years past.
Stadium Authority Chairman Nick Ban gave credit to NexTier Bank for being a good community partner in extending the organization a 10-year loan that enabled the authority to return the park to city control.
