The Chief of the Butler City Police Department has added a new title to his name.
After successfully defending his dissertation last month, Chief Bob O’Neill has been granted an Education doctorate in Leadership and Administration with a concentration in professional leadership from Point Park University.
O’Neill’s dissertation was titled The Effect of Law Enforcement Leaders on Recruitment and Retention in Western Pennsylvania. He began his studies in July of 2019 and finished with a 3.98 GPA.
“I spent the better part of three years interviewing, reading, and learning about various leadership experiences and also pros and cons how other chiefs are doing things well and maybe not so well,” O’Neill said. “I came to some reasonable answers from a person who is actually a practitioner. I think it will help me. My long goal is to help create better policy.”
O’Neill previously attended undergraduate school at Duquesne before moving on to obtain a Masters degree from Geneva.
