Police have filed charges following a recent incident of vandalism at the Penn Theater.
According to a press release by Butler City Police, three juvenile males have been charged with burglary and criminal mischief for spray painting of the screen, stage, walls, doors, and seats that was discovered last month by employees of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler.
The three were identified through the use of video evidence and have cooperated with the investigation. Punishment from Juvenile Court is expected to include “significant restitution”.
The authority purchased the Theater through an agreement with the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation at a cost of $250,000. An additional $15,000 in interest is added yearly. The Authority has been unable to make payments through this agreement for eight years.
