The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority is in discussions about repayment of an outstanding sales tax obligation owed to the Department of Revenue.
The authority was notified of the obligation at the end of June when they attempted to renew their liquor license. The exact amount has not been made public at this time, but it is thought to be less than $15,000 over a three-year period.
The period begins in 2015 and runs through 2017, which also coincides with the operation of the concession stand by the Butler BlueSox. The BlueSox have been notified of the obligation but any response to the situation has not been made public.
The authority is filing the required reports and making payments for sales tax in the current year. Members planned to discuss further detail of this situation in executive session under the category of potential litigation.
