Butler City Council is encouraging residents to shed a little light on the city this weekend.
Director of Public Safety Councilwoman Kathy Kline has put forward the idea of a Butler Safety Light Up Night once a month.
Every Saturday night following a City Council meeting (usually the fourth Saturday of the month) Butler residents are asked to leave on their outside porch light from dark to Sunday morning.
The goal of this Light Up Night is to increase safety in and around the Butler area especially on warm evenings when lots of people are out walking around.
