Butler City Council continues moving ahead with plans to take over administration of parking in the city.
As part of the requirements for their bond rating, the city is directing the Parking Authority to approve and file a Certificate of Termination. The Parking Authority is expected to take the necessary actions to dissolve during their meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to City Treasurer Jeff Smith (who also manages finances for the Parking Authority), the group will need to liquidate bonds, cancel or modify agreements, and transfer insurance.
Council discussed creating the position of a Parking Manager but there was some disagreement about salary and responsibilities for the job…so that decision has been postponed.
Mayor Tom Donaldson will deal with day to day parking issues until more details can be finalized.
