The process of recreational fires in the City of Butler is being simplified for local residents.
According to Councilwoman Kathy Kline, under the new rules, residents will only need to come down to the fire station to get a new recreational fire permit once a year.
Each permit will be numbered and when the resident wants to have a fire, all he or she would have to do is call the station and give them the number. The old procedure required residents to come to the fire station to fill out forms each time they wanted a fire.
The new procedures will go into effect on March 1st. Residents who do not comply with the recreational fire rules will be fined.
