With the start of the Butler BlueSox season almost a month away, the city of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority has approved repairs to be made to the scoreboard at Kelly Automotive Park in the City of Butler.
The authority will pay $1,550 to a company called Novell who will get the 10-year-old board fully operational again before the BlueSox home opener on May 31.
No extensive repairs have been made to board in at least the last five years and recently authority members have been moving bulbs around in an effort to maximize functionality.
The authority also plans to move forward with longer-term plans to seek out sponsorships or naming rights so they can acquire a new sign.

The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority has entered into an agreement with a local bookkeeper to provide accounting services.
During a meeting on Monday night, the authority agreed to do business with Aaron Bonus of A.B. Bookkeeping for a one-year contract at $800 per month.
Bonus will provide services including setup and installation of the Quickbooks program, as well as reconciling of checking accounts with bank statements, preparation of payroll on a recurring basis, and review of general ledger accounts.
The authority did not have anyone dedicated to provide this service in the past. Previously, authority members kept track of expenses and revenues in a less formal and structured manner.
