Three different sets of closed-door negotiations are taking place involving representatives of the City of Butler Parks, Recreational Grounds, and Facilities Authority.
Authority Solicitor Tom Breth confirmed Monday that negotiations are continuing with representatives of the Butler BlueSox ownership group, concerning closing out of outstanding accounting issues. Included in those conversations is tax money owed to the Department of Revenue from alcohol sales when the BlueSox were operating concessions.
Conversations are also taking place with an unnamed company or business concerning the naming rights for the ballpark, which will continue to be known as Kelly Automotive Park through 2018. That agreement is said to be close to completion.
Finally, according to Breth, an individual or organization has approached the authority with a plan to make extensive use of the ballpark and stadium facilities in 2019. Authority members will discuss that proposal and decide if they are interested in moving forward.
The City of Butler Parks, Recreational Grounds and Facilities Authority run Kelly Automotive Park, formerly known as Pullman Park, in the Butler’s West End.
