Butler City Council will begin the process to remove the city’s Bantam Jeep from the Butler County Historical Society and place it in the care of a local antique car association.
After hearing from members of the Butler Old Stone House Chapter of the American Antique Car Association, council agreed to start the transition. Councilwoman Kathy Kline voted against the motion while Councilman Ken Bonus abstained as a member of the Historical Society board of directors.
At least two council members expressed interest in entering into a written agreement with the car club similar to the one that already exists between the club and the city with regard to the city-owned 1909 Huselton.
Club members attending the meeting expressed a desire to further support the care of these vehicles by giving the city money to pay for insurance.
