Butler City Council has approved a plan that rezones a property to allow for electronic and traditional billboards.
The property is on the West New Castle Street hill near the stoplight intersection with Hansen Avenue.
Councilman Kenny Bonus was the only member of council voting against the plan, citing a recommendation by the city Planning and Zoning Commission to deny the application.
The local businessman planning to put up the billboards will still need to return to the city zoning board to apply for a variance of use before the billboards will be installed.
