The City of Butler is purchasing a new computer server, which is necessary to replace equipment that is no longer functional.
Butler City Council approved the purchase of a backup server for about $3,000 from Perfection Services as well as a monthly fee of $729 for three terabytes of information.
According to Mayor Bob Dandoy and Councilman Don Shearer, the old eight year old server is beyond its usable lifespan. Perfection Services is the current information technology provider for the city. The City now pays about $400 per month for a lower amount of information but the new server means a new agreement for more info must be put in place.
The new equipment will be installed in the Butler City Building as soon as possible. Council could decide to look into better pricing options for monthly fees but will at least be covered during that process.
