City officials gathered Monday morning for an official ribbon-cutting at the new bridge on West New Castle Street in the City of Butler’s west end.
The bridge reopened to traffic last week. Next up on the city’s project list is the West Cunningham Street Bridge.
“We’re improving the city one bridge at a time, one project at a time,” Mayor Tom Donaldson said Monday.
Some drivers were confused as to why the “School Crossing” sign was re-painted (on the portion of the road just after the bridge) when nearby Broad Street Elementary was closed due to Butler Area School District’s consolidation. Mayor Donaldson said Monday the bridge project’s specifications were already set prior to the school’s closure and had to be carried out exactly.
