The candidates hoping to be the next mayor of Butler or sit on city council will debate next month.
The forum is set for Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. inside the Holly Pointe Conference Center on Main Street in downtown Butler.
The four candidates running for two open seats on city council will debate first. Incumbents Kathy Kline and Kenny Bonus will take the stage with challengers Jim Kemple and Jeff Smith for about an hour.
The second debate will include the two mayoral candidates- Democrat Jamie Lee Goehring and Republican Ben Smith.
Per rules set by the Butler County Chamber of Commerce to only include candidates who will be listed on the ballot, current Mayor Tom Donaldson will not be included in the debate. He lost to Smith in the Republican primary back in May, but has since mounted a write-in campaign.
