The Butler Township commissioners have given their approval for the transfer of a liquor license into the township.
A public hearing was held Monday night during which Giant Eagle requested the transfer from My Buddy’s Place bar in the City of Butler to the GetGo on North Main Street in Butler township.
Giant Eagle plans to remodel the interior of the convenience store in order to accommodate a dining area for up to 30 people. The store itself will not be any bigger but they do plan on selling beer and wine. A GetGo in Cranberry Township began selling alcohol about a month ago.
Now that the commissioners have given their approval, a notice will be posted on the building for 30 days followed by the submission of an application to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. A Giant Eagle representative said the company hopes to be selling alcohol in the store sometime this spring.
