The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is looking for general contractors willing to work on homes in the city now and in the future.
The authority is responsible for dispersing money available through the state Community Development Block Grant program for owner-occupied home rehab in the city. The objective of this program is to address health and safety hazards, along with code violations.
Three of these projects were recently put out to bid but now need to be re-bid because they either did not receive a bid, or came in over the allowable price able to be spent on the project. The authority needs to adhere to a formula put out by HUD, which states the cost of repairs cannot exceed 95 percent of the market value of the home.
In addition to the work that is available now, three other properties have been inspected and will be put out to bid in the near future. Bidders must be insured and registered with workman’s compensation, as well as trained and certified in lead paint disposal.
