Fall is underway, which means leaves will soon be falling, if they haven’t started already.
The first day Butler City residents can begin disposing of leaves at designated areas in the city’s Memorial Park is Saturday, Oct. 14.
Signs will be posted to direct residents to designated compost sites, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, as well as on holidays through November.
Leaves must be removed from bags at the compost area since the dumping of brush, rubbish or garbage is prohibited. Curbside collection service is provided by the city’s streets department once all leaves have fallen.
Any resident who wants to dispose of leaves by burning them on private property should contact the city fire department at 724-283-3100 for instructions.
