Firefighters say Christmas lights are to blame for starting a fire early this Thursday in Lawrence County.
The fire started about 1 a.m. at a home in Mahoning Township, that’s in western Lawrence County. A couple was home when they heard crackling. They were able to safely escape but the flames destroyed a portion of the home.
The fire chief told our news partners at WPXI-TV that the fire started on the porch and he believes it was an electrical fire started by Christmas lights strung on the porch.
It took fire crews more than two hours to fight the flames.
