Two local men have been charged in two separate incidents of alleged strangulation that occurred on Christmas Day in downtown Butler.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Butler City Police, just before 3 a.m. Monday 34-year-old Jose Olivo Jr assaulted his girlfriend in the 200 block of Kaufman Drive. Olivo allegedly threw the woman onto the ground and choked her while yelling at her before she was able to get away and call 911. Police said Olivo appeared to be intoxicated.
Later that day just after 5 p.m. Butler City Police responded to a domestic incident in the 500 block of West Brady Street. A victim reported that 29-year-old Jacob Barker of Butler tried to strangle her by squeezing his hands around her throat. The victim called police from a neighbor’s house and police observed evidence of an assault.
