A Chicora woman is accused of spending over $1,000 that her daughter earned through the sale of Girl Scout cookies.
According to a criminal complaint, 51-year-old Cynthia Smith is now facing theft charges.
Authorities allege she received $1,200 worth of cookies from the Western Pennsylvania Girl Scout Association that her daughter had pre-sold. Smith was required to pay the balance in full in July but never did.
State Police say Smith admitted to using the money to pay for utility bills. She assured an officer she would make the entire payment in October but when that deadline passed, police filed charges.
