A new activity has been added to the holiday happenings in Chicora this year- a Community House-Decorating Contest.
The competition is free. To participate, you simply must living within a three-mile radius of the center of town, which officials have deemed the Chicora Honor Roll memorial. So residents outside of Chicora Borough, in Donegal and Fairview townships, can participate too.
“Each year with our light up night festivities and different holiday events, we continue to build morale and a greater sense of community in Chicora, the house-decorating contest will only help,” Chicora Mayor Lisa Nagy said.
Residents interested in participating in the contest must register and pick up a yard sign by noon Friday, Dec. 16. You can register at the Chicora Borough and Sewer Authority Office (the original fire station). Judging will take place on Sunday evening, Dec. 18.
There will be three awards given- including a ‘Clark Griswold’ award for “excessive use of lights.”
