On the eve of free agency in the NHL, the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks completed a seven-player trade that sends Gibsonia-native Brandon Saad to the Columbus BlueJackets. The 22-year old Saad had a tremendous post-season after having 23 goals and 29 assists in the regular season. Both were career highs. He had eight goals among 11 points in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Saad was eligible for restricted free agency, and the Blackhawks are battling salary cap issues.
