To make sure your turkey is safe to eat for your Thanksgiving meal, don’t forget a huge tip…the proper internal cooking temperature.
Chef George Shroth from Tanglewood told our newsroom to make sure you cook your turkey to a good temperature of about 160-170 degrees. If you stuff the bird, he says make sure you cooking it with enough heat to get the stuffing hot.
Always check the package for cooking instructions for the size of turkey that you bought.
Tomorrow, people will prepare their turkey in a variety of ways. Some roast the turkey while others like to deep fry it. There are cooks who like to prepare their meal by grilling.
You can look for the pop-up timers to see if your bird is done or take a meat-thermometer and place it in the thickest part of the thigh to test the temperature; that’s because that area takes longer to cook than other parts of the bird.
