A Gibsonia man is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a local IT company which he helped start.
47-year-old Eric Cunningham is facing five felony charges stemming from an alleged theft of over $200,000 from a company called Information Technology Procurement Sourcing, or ITPS.
The business was started in January of 2017 to set up networking systems for businesses and school districts. At least two Butler County districts- Karns City and Mars- used their services.
Cunningham was fired from the company in July of last year and an investigation began last December. Charges were filed in Allegheny County by a detective with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. Cunningham is free on bail and is due back in court in late August.
A felony charge was also filed against another man in connection with this local IT company.
42-year-old Jerry Carrel of Mars was charged with forgery in Allegheny County by a detective with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
During his time employed by ITPS in 2017, Carrel received instruction by CEO Eric Cunningham to process the company’s payroll including bonus and commission payouts.
Earlier this year when Carrel was no longer employed by ITPS, he is accused of filing a claim with the PA Department of Labor and Industry alleging non-payment of over $60,000 in bonuses he said he was owed by ITPS.
Carrel allegedly admitted to creating an employment agreement with different wording ensuring he would receive the bonuses which was submitted to the state to support his claim.
